I would like to first say that the title couldn't be more apt and it justifies each and every line written in this book. This isn't an easy read if you think it's just about old age tales with a twist because, it talks about heavy weight topics like 'Gas lighting', 'Depression' and 'Feminism'.

It took me a while to get accustomed with the rhythm of the writing and once I dug into it, I was swept. The fresh perspective provided by Gill on our classic fairytales is just inspiring. I'm still in awe of her thinking, writing and the Illustrations in this book which she did herself, just highlights her thoughts wholly.

The way she has connected the fate of these characters we grew up on to the circumstances, which made them who they are is sheer brilliance. She gave them layers of emotions and this made these characters seem more human and real rather than a figment of our fantasy.

The book is divided into chapters and each one is insightful and traces the life of some famous fairytale characters like Peter Pan, Little Mermaid, The Evil Queen and much more.

Even though the book is just 176 pages, it's packed with powerful poetry and fairy tale magic. The

narrative weaved by Gill inspire readers to look past the outer beauty, become self-reliant, independent and fierce in their own way and break the centuries old societal norms which chains us, restrict us.

The stories are specially dedicated to women and urges them to be strong, resilient, and hold their ground and to not get bent by the oppressive society. But these messages are never overbearing.
