Romanov is a retelling based on the famous Russian royal family – The Romanovs. It is based on the final years of the Romanov family, which were executed by the Bolsheviks during the Russian civil war in the 20^th century.

“It is if you separate the two- old life and new life. But once you learn that it's all one life and each day is a new page, it gets a bit easier to let your story take an unexpected path.” 

Anastasia “Nastya” Romanov is the protagonist of the story. The character of Nastya at the age of only 16-17 in the story shows true strength, wit and courage.  The story shows how people can find love and meaning in the most difficult times.

This book for me was a little underwhelming due to the over hype on the social media, had I read this book without any pre-conceived notion I might have liked this book a little more.

This is one of the books which picks up the pace very slowly, and then packs a punch in the second half. If you’re looking forward to read a light historical fiction book, only then you should pick up this book.
