The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides | BOOK REVIEW

Book: The Silent Patient

Genre:Thriller (Psychological Thriller)

Pages: 325

My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This is one of the best written psychology thrillers I have read in a while !!!

If you have been on a look out for a good thriller which can blow up your mind - This is it 👆

If you haven't read this genre and want to try a book for the same - This is it !!
If you're looking to start reading books and want to read something amazing - This is it !!

The book is essentially a murder mystery/Thriller written with a gripping, engaging plot. A murder has been committed and the person held responsible for it is- Alicia. She's our protagonist and she has been accused of murdering her Husband. Now, the catch is that she hasn't spoken a word since the murder and is institutionalised in a psychiatric ward, as a part of her conviction. A doctor who intends to help Alicia comes forward and tries to break her silence and helps her recover from the trauma she went through.

Slowly  the doctor starts investigating the murder to find out who the actual killer is or make a sense, as to why Alicia killed her husband (as everyone believed).

What follows after is a story which will make you rack your brain, question known facts, rethink what you know and then blow your mind in the end. This work by Alex Michaelides sweeps you in and you will keep reading till you find your answers.

What I really liked was how the story is written in the format of diary entries by Alicia and sort of moved  from past to present. The book offers a lot of insight into the lives of people with deep underlying mental issues and how these unresolved issues manifest themselves once a saturation point is reached.Though the book is filled with psychological jargon it was easy to understand and it harmonised with the whole theme of the book.
