The Queen of Nothing by Holly Black | BOOK REVIEW

Book: The Queen of Nothing

Genre: Fantasy

Pages: 300

My Rating:⭐⭐⭐.5

The queen of nothing is one of the most awaited books of 2019. The Folk of the air series is one of the best books I’ve read this year. But QoN was a little anti-climatic compared to the other two books.
The story is written in an ever so flawless engaging manner. It is fast paced (a bit too fast at times), but you’ll love the book nonetheless. The amount of information given in 300 pages is enormous without being overpowering.
I cherished the moments between Jude and Cardan (emoji). Jude shining like a badass Queen she is. But the character growth of both the protagonists was minimal. Jude remains her normal cunning personality while Cardan (sigh) turned into a mush, hard to believe I know!!
“It's you I love," he says. "I've spent much of my life guarding my heart. I guarded it so well that I could behave as though I didn't have one at all. Even now, it is a shabby, worm-eaten, and scabrous thing. But it is yours."
The relationship between Jude and Cardan seemed too forced at times, it kind of lost all the chemistry that the author had built till now (Ugh).

The author left an open ending for everyone apart from Jude and Cardan, which is frustrating!! But I’m hoping for spin-offs (fingers crossed).

I wish the book had been written a little slower, that the author had taken a little more time to explain all the events that takes place in this book, and explored the relationship between the protagonists. I loved this book but at the same time my expectations were so high, that the story couldn’t keep up. Would I still recommend this book to everyone – Hell yes! The Cruel prince and the wicked king are really awesome books, if you like the cunning, manipulative world of Faeries (wink).
