We Were Liars by E. Lockhart | BOOK REVIEW
Book: Were Liars by E. Lockhart
Genre: YA, Psychological thriller
Pages: 272
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
It’s true when they say that you should lie if anyone asks
you about this book because the way the author weaves this story is one that
everyone should read at least once.
We’ve all read thriller books in which the authors provide
minimal clues and you have a hard time guessing the ending. But guess what, in
we were liars you’ll have clues and the facts staring right at you throughout
the book and you still won’t be able to guess the twists. This is one of the
reasons why I truly loved this book.
Another reason is the thought provoking writing of the
author, although there are a few instances where the author crossed the
boundary with using too many adjectives. But still this book is going to leave
you with a profound sadness for the tragedy the Sinclair family goes through. We
were liars is a poignant story based on Self-acceptance, grief and family
morals.
Every year the Sinclair family spends their summer at a
private island in Massachusetts. There the family comes together to celebrate
their family traditions and enjoy a vacation. Everything looks grand and mysterious
on the surface but when you’re surrounded by the same people weeks on end, the
temperature run high and the teenage angst soars. And as to what happens to the
perfect Sinclair family, well that you need to find on your own. 😜
